Before I Fall
I read the book!!!!!!!!! This is the first time I have ever watched the movie and read the book and it feels amazing. I watched the movie first so I’m comparing the movie to the book and it was nice to see the changes. Obviously the book had more details but it didn’t matter. She relived the same day 7 times in the book and in the movie it felt like multiple weeks or even months. I liked the way they showed how terrifying it must have been for her.
There were scenes they added in the movie that worked perfectly. There were also scenes or plots they didn’t focus on which I’m glad about. Like her relationship with that one teacher, it made sense they didn’t focus on it. They wanted the movie to strictly focus on Sam and how her life had been a lie and how she was stuck in a bubble. It took her until she fell to realize. Appreciate the moment before it’s too late. Don’t waste time, you never realize the days or hours you have left. Appreciate the little things around you. Don’t settle, be a better person. Be who you want to be. Don’t change for anyone. Be grateful for who you are. You matter.
I really liked how they focused on that. It was so good to see the changes. I now understand why people make such a big deal about casting in book adaptations. The cast for this movie was perfect, they were the characters. While I was reading I kept imagining the cast. For me it’s better to watch the adaptation than read because I’m a visual learner so movies will always win over books.
It was nice to see more details and explore the characters more. The narrative of Sam was great and it helped me understand her better. In the book she was so down bad for Kent. Her relationship with her sister was perfect in both, same with her mom. In the movie I’m glad they added the “do you think I’m a good person” scene with her mom, it was so good. I love what the movie did.
Such a good movie. So glad I watched this when I was 17. Same age as Sam. Easily my most non Disney rewatched film.
