Frankenstein
"And thus the heart will break, yet brokenly live on."
Guillermo del Toro, you absolute genius.
I've never been as moved and emotionally impacted by a movie as much as this one.
I'm a greater admirer of Guillermo del Toro's work and how he utilizes the baroque and gothic to bring beauty to such devastating images.
Frankenstein is a masterpiece, let's be true. From beggining to end, it's a faithful representation of the eternal dichotomies of humanity: good and bad, monstrosity and pureness, fear and acceptance, love and hate, guilt and forgiveness, life and death. We are eternally shackled to the decisions. We either make them or break them, because if not, they break us.
The body is a revolution. Even though broken and put together by pieces, when gaining understanding, The Creature deems itself worthy to live. The nothing becomes something. Someone. Human. A human who aches for an end he cannot have, a love who's only a mere dream. The void tastes the soul and becomes enamored by it. He takes space, he deserves the space. The movie reminds you that it's okay to be human, even if you're just a bunch of broken pieces put together. In the end, the sun will shine for you, no matter what.
