Superman
"Superman. He's not a man...he's an it."
On rewatch id say this film was even better than the first. All of the pieces fit together a lot more seamlessly and the clunky feeling starts to disapate. Coming out of my rewatch Lex Luthor stands out as the best performance to me, while he's not my favorite you can just feel the pure hatred oozing from his every action. I was genuinely baffled by how hard this film went with it's messaging. Much like big blue this movie wears its true colors on its sleeve and you gotta respect that. At its core this movie is about being kind and doing the right thing, if anyone has a problem with that this movie damn sure calls them out. Superman here was of course flawless in his depiction, his humanity is at its forefront and that my friends is simply perfection. I'm so happy a generation of kinds will grow up with this as their Superman, a friend who they can look to as a role model for kindness and hope. I cried again watching this and I think I'll continue to cry every single time I watch it. Superman is a movie that is deeply empathetic, cheesy, earnest, and above all else hopeful. James Gunn crafted in my eyes the perfect movie for the first real Superhero. Superman is like a multi episode arc of the best Saturday morning cartoon and that is the highest compliment I can give.
