Good Time
“You’re gonna have a good time”
There’s something so enticing about seeing Connie, such a flawed character, trying to do what he thinks is right in some of the worst ways possible.
You want to cheer for him, and the movie does a great job in making you do that, but the end hits the audience with that realization that, as pure as his intentions may be, you shouldn’t be.
He clearly cares and loves his brother, and is admirably willing to do whatever he thinks necessary for the well being for his brother. There are also glimpses of him being a generally caring person, as seen with his brief interaction with the old woman in the hospital. But he’s also a criminal. And not only that, but one which manipulates and takes advantage of others (especially women). And that’s not even mentioning his questionable behavior with an underage girl.
This couldn’t have ended any other way other than with Connie’s capture. He’s held his brother back from the real care he deserved. And so the film ends on a bittersweet note. They both really are where they should be now.
Connie had to go if Nick wanted a Good Time.
