Phantom Thread

“I feel as if I've been looking for you for a very long time.” “You found me. Whatever you do, do it carefully” As the “phantom thread” of Cupid seeks to sew us together and make us inseparable, we struggle and thrash against the inescapable truth that is true love.  I can only really describe this as a melancholic joy of a film. Such elegance and pure attention to detail in every aspect culminate into this incredible feast for the soul and mind. Like a slap to the face and a warm hug afterwards.  Daniel Day-Lewis is a god amongst men, showing the world that he will always be one of the greatest actors to ever grace the silver screen. Vicky Krieps is equally outstanding, giving such a subdued yet incredibly powerful performance of jealousy, loneliness, insecurity, and want. These two souls, Reynolds and Alma, are inseparable. They may bicker and may fight and have differences, but that is merely a part of love. No true love is without its squabbles and hardships and these characters perfectly portray that sentiment. Just an all around dream of a movie, almost like laying on a cloud.
