Superman
"I'm as human as anyone. I love, I get scared. I wake up every morning and despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other and I try to make the best choices I can. I screw up all the time. But that is being human. And that's my greatest strength."
This version of Superman has got to the best and my favorite of all time. In many different adaptations, we always see him as the nerdy Clark Kent, with his glasses serving as the only disguise that keeps him from being recognized. Then he puts on his cape as Superman, and his entire personality changes. He is seen as the most trusted and powerful hero that we all look up to, and we always just look up at him because that's how he's always been written.
However in James Gunn's Superman, Clark Kent isn't very different from Superman himself when he steps into the limelight. Clark Kent is Superman and Superman is Clark Kent. That means that however human Clark Kent presents himself to be to blend in with non-metahumans, that same humanity doesn't disappear when he goes out to save the world, too. It's always been in his heart and I'm glad that the writers did not try too hard to cover up his real identity, making Lois Lane aware of who he is, and eventually his co-workers.
We always thought that being super means being perfect and never losing a fight. But what makes us super is the strength that we continue to carry and empower no matter how imperfect we become over time.
