Sinners
Movies lik these are the reason why people go to the theater cuz there’s just no way you can truly enjoy this on a lil laptop screen.
Obsessed with the soundtrack and visuals. It really just heightened and added to the world building. Michael B Jordan as per usual killed it lik he does all his roles under Ryan Coogler. Loved this style of vampire—very original and brought more of the horror elements to it than other vampire centric media.
Lots of themes and symbolisms that touch on the horrors of oppression that black and other communities have faced. I love love the relationship of the twins—-“the last time I saw my brother was the last time I saw the sun” urghhhhh killed meeeeee. Also, how unhinged was it that Sammy escaped all the vampires and when he ran back home to his dad covered in blood and scratches, his dad doesn’t even take the time to ask him if he’s ok??!!! Just straight up is lik u sinned by going out with ur cousins and now that you know the error of ur ways—give up music FOREVER!! lik damn, can the man breathe for a bit, take a shower, and eat a hot meal first?!! Sammy’s dad was the true villain fr.
Lowkey made me want to watch Interview with a Vampire tv series again cuz who doesn’t love gay southern vampires.
