Possession
I don't think I'll ever get over it. I'm so shocked. This film will remain etched in my memory forever, as will the feelings I experienced while watching it.
It is incredibly well made.
The atmosphere is extremely heavy from beginning to end, and the film creates a certain tension without trying to scare you.
The film's greatest strength lies in the performances of the main actors, especially the lead actress, who are EXCELLENT and truly powerful.
The film moves at a frenetic pace, the camera is constantly moving, you never get bored, nothing is ever flat or slow.
Everything that happens in the film is completely unpredictable and gets worse and worse, becoming more and more shocking. You are left speechless and keep watching, wondering what will happen next and how it will all end.
A true horror film in all its glory, which does not rely solely on scaring the audience, because it doesn't, and which remains very thoughtful and well constructed. It is undoubtedly one of the best I have seen.
The subway scene and the creature in the film (truly incredible for its time) are traumatic.
