Spotlight

For an investigative drama revolving around under-paid journalists in the early 2000s, there is some great cinematography in this movie. The shots where the reporters are interviewing victims and the camera pans out to show a massive church in the background were especially evocative. The church is so omnipresent in Boston, and this movie shows just how sinister it can be behind closed doors. There are also a few stretches in this where a handful of scenes with huge gut-punches are strung together. Just remarkable filmmaking.  Every time I rewatch this, I am absolutely floored. What an incredible movie.
