Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks have the same face, and it bothered me way too much.I haven't seen the original show, but it is one of those pop culture productions that you know the basic structure of, even if you didn't know it. Because of this, it was quite easy to see how everything was going to happen, resulting in very few surprises.
The movie relies on Dan Aykroyd and Tom Hanks, and luckily, their chemistry was on point. The banter between these two is very attractive and helps a lot with the pacing. There are some great gags throughout, but despite my consistently laughing, it wasn't particularly memorable and won't stand the test of time.
There is a fun mystery there, but the writing fumbles any sign of suspense or paranoia and becomes the ending of 'Stripes.' The villains are pretty basic, and there aren't any particularly memorable moments of direction. It may be fun, but I'm not that engaged with the bigger picture. It's worth watching for Aykroyd and Hanks, and it's not absolutely terrible, but I won't remember much about this movie in the coming weeks (besides a very funny screen grab I took of Aykroyd eating a Chili Dog).
Also, I live for cringe rapping; L to the OG.
