Many things I really enjoyed about this movie, darker elseworld Batman set in the 1920s with demons 🔥 but the movie is a little lacking overall unfortunately. Still enjoyed it, but not the best for sure.

pretty good. interesting versions of very popular characters. felt like ra’s and talia took too long to do anything related to the main plot. just a bunch of “let’s find the key” and then they get mr. freeze and then that’s about it for twenty minutes and THEN the key is revealed. and they do that like three times. also underutilized mr. freeze. no actual freezing done on-screen. other than that good.

Elseworlds stories are very hit and miss for me, especially if they are sometimes a bit too out there or there’s stuff being crossed over for the sake of it (or bad narrative decisions are being made just cos). 

The Lovecraftian monsters and all the stuff about father and sons really does lend itself to the minutiae of the lore of Batman in a way that doesn’t irk me too much. 

I’ve never read The Doom That Came To Gotham, so I can’t comment on the source material, I can only infer from other animated films like this, there has been some liberties taken in the adaption - but I’ve had a better time here than I have with a lot of the other ones I’ve seen recently.

definitely one of the movies that could’ve had potential but honestly just got boring towards the end. it kinda just got to the point i was more so waiting for it to end because the climax was too disjointed to actually be really interesting but at least i got another version of cassandra cain 🫩
