I had to watch this for a class. Originally, this was an 80 minute film by Gregg Tolland, the cinematographer of Citizen Kane. I haven’t seen the OG yet, but they brought in John Ford to recut the film and what we are left with is a 33 minute short film depicting the surprise attack and showin some love to the Japanese locals on Hawaii that were dedicated to the war effort, contrary to fears at the time. John Ford literally cut over half this shit so I’m mighty excited to learn why exactly it needed to be cut (probably mad racist)
