Pretty solid thriller, with some nice editing. It starts off strong but then they kinda fumble the 3rd act. But enjoyed it anyway.

Also those women do not seem police trained, felt comedic at times.

The Abandoned
THE ABANDONED is a decent crime thriller despite being incredibly bleak and morbid, revolved around the murders of illegal female migrants in Taiwan. Opening the film with a policewoman on the verge of suicide, only to be ‘saved’ by the discovery of a bloat corpse in the river is an interesting choice; to say the least. It dawned upon me that both our protaganist (aforementioned policewoman) and antagonist (eventual serial killer) were both ‘abandoned’ by their lovers. Hence, bringing the title full circle.

The Abandoned
This movie exists alongside Wandering Earth in the "Chinese" category on Netflix. I watched Wandering Earth first, and then this movie.
In many aspects, this movie is the ultimate palate cleanser for something as dull as Wandering Earth, providing something grounded, well made, and with heart. When viewing this movie, one can tell the director had a vision for what they wanted to make and executed it in a way a GOOD director would, unlike whatever happened with Wandering Earth.
Janine Chun-Ning Chang is absolutely excellent in this movie. It is easy to fall into the pit of overacting when doing a roll like that of Wu, but Ning Chang doesn't overdo it, while also really selling the fact that she is on the verge of completely breaking down.
