LCD Soundsystem: The Long Goodbye

If talking heads are my favourite band of the 20th century (and probably all time) then lcd soundsystem are my favourite band of the 21st century. I hadn't checked on here to see how long the concert was before hand, so when I watched a hour and 40 minute long video I presumed that that was the whole thing, then I noticed it said part one. I don't know if I've ever been more happy to learn i was only halfway through an over three hour long film before. Seriously i could have watched another three hours of this. There were far too many great moments to list off in this, but the ones that really stood out the most were: Drunk Girls, North American Scum, Home and the start and end songs. I'm not saying I would literally kill someone just to see them live, but if I was given a old West bounty poster that said "reward - lcd soundsystem tickets" I wouldn't put the poster in the bin.

This is maybe my favorite concert film of all time. Watching the band put everything they have into the performance is just so great and they leave it all on the stage. Some people act like the power of the show was diminished by the bands return but I don’t think so. The band all thinks they’re gonna be done forever in that moment and they play like it. It’s a really long set, covering almost all the major discography up to that point, but it’s so good. There are several songs where this version is the definitive version in my eyes, with extra layers of gang vocals and other sounds adding to the complexity of their music. I love it every time. And with the full concert you don’t have to deal with Chuck Klosterman so that’s a big plus.
