…that no matter how much cinema or technology evolves — which already seem like the same thing — or how many millions get poured into sharpening photography through more pixels or higher definition, the true visual poems were left to us by silent cinema. That’s why nobody forgets the vampire from “Nosferatu” or the ending of “Sunrise”. Because beauty is not in the what, but in the how.
…that my one of favorite films was created by a genius over a century ago, at a time when the foundations of the seventh art were barely more than itself.
