Talk about a comfort film. Recommended to me by a very dear friend, she told me this was basically her childhood. It now gives me plenty of insight on how she came to be the wonderful girl she is today. This movie felt like homemade cookies, warm milk, and a fireplace, all the while Nat King Cole plays in the back. That found family theme is pretty consistently great, and it's pretty adorable to see here. All of the characters, while not fleshed out or explored as deeply as I may have liked, were fun, bubbly, and felt real. I'm more of a dog person to be honest, but I really did love these cats. Not to mention my favorite part of the whole film, the great Scat Cat! He's voiced by one of my favorite actors ever, Scatman Crothers (the black dude from The Shining) and it enhanced his scenes even more for me as I imagined his charm and smile. While it's not the greatest film ever on paper, I really enjoyed this and had a great time with it, even if it was a bit goofy at times.
