Just a tad better than the original in my humble opinion. There’s so much good with this one especially when it comes to the actual games. I felt like the drama aspect of it was also better, you could definitely feel the tensions rising throughout the movie, the tension between Katniss and between the districts. My major flaw of this movie are the beginning honestly, I feel the beginning was a bit longer than needed. I was still engaged throughout the beginning but it could have been sped up a tad, it slowed down the tension which dulled it a bit. Other than that, this flick is peak. The new arena with seasoned and vicious veterans was a great addition for the movie, it was also great that they were all friends before. It made the games more intense. This movie really is great, the best of the saga. I’ll watch it over and over.

This is my favorite installment so far, catching fire is sharper and more focused than the first film. It expands the story from personal survival to political resistance, which gives the sequel more weight and tension. Jennifer Lawrence’s performance really anchors the story, showing how Katniss becomes both a political symbol and a reluctant participant in the Capitol’s propaganda cycle. I cannot stand President Snow, his unhealthy obsession with control is insane. There are so many characters that I feel a certain attachment to, I actually can’t stand the thought of their potential deaths but on to the next one. I’m actually sick to my stomach that they left Peeta but shoutout Haymitch with my favorite line: “You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy” BAR!
