“but… without my voice, how can i”
“you’ll have your looks, your pretty face, and don’t underestimate the power of body language!”
another disney that was a lot better throughout my childhood, but on a rewatch it was still fun. the underwater visuals are breathtaking, and it’s probably one of the better looking animated disney movies. i honestly think this is the disney film with the best music, all of it’s incredibly memorable and remain quite significant even today, with ‘part of your world’ and ‘under the sea’, as well as the iconic villain theme. the characters are also memorable, ariel is a decent princess - she makes decisions that kinda make me dislike her (such as leaving her entire family and friends for a dude she’d never spoke to in her entire life) but she was fine. the animals were some of the better characters - flounder, sebastian and the seagull all bring something different, but are all mainly used for a comedic effect. eric is also fine, noticeably one of the better princes. king troy is kinda eh, but ursula is easily my favourite thing about this movie (which isn’t uncommon for disney) her design and personality inspired by drag queen divine, i think she’s an icon, and was totally rooting for her. it generally had an engaging story, but yeah i still think it’s weird that ariel just ditched everyone for this random guy lmao.
