Being trapped in a confined space on the ocean floor where a gold sphere has given, your crazy ex situationship that hates you, but should probably also be in the psych ward and a guy whose literal fear is stuff found in the ocean, powers to manifest their thoughts. Sounds like a nightmare blunt rotation

Read the book a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the sci-fi world building and set up to the eventual climax, which this movie sees fit to rush through in order to get to the horror elements. It’s all fine, but I’d largely recommend the book to anyone who even remotely likes this story. It goes into way further depth and presents genuinely fascinating sci-fi concepts even if the back half kind of fails to live up to the promise of the first. 

I mean you found a Time Machine at the bottom of the ocean and everyone is too preoccupied with the dang ball to even care! Two things can be cool at once!
