I…actually liked this? More than anything, The Last Chance needs a solid restoration. It’s a good movie, but not available in good quality. A restoration and critical reappraisal would do it some good!
It has a really interesting combination of nations behind it. There’s a handful of languages spoken in the film that gives it a unique feeling. It’s filmed pretty beautifully, actually, and has some stunning wintry cinematography (plus skis!). I think, more than anything, I appreciate how entertaining it was after droning through a good number of boring Palms D’Or winners from the past.
