To a specfic person reading this, I want you to know that I have beef with you. You know who you are.Why did I listen to my friend? I purchased five movies from a great used video store today. I could have rewatched those (Multiple Maniacs, Caché, Magnolia, Pieces of April, and the one and only, Nothing But Trouble directed by Dan Aykroyd). Instead, I watched Zombie Town.
I understand that this movie isn't made for people over the age of 13, but I don't think that's a good excuse.
This was an insufferable experience.
This movie recieving a theatrical production is hilarious, because this feels like if an episode of the original "Goosebumps' TV show was trying to be of theatrical quality. 'Zombie Town' is geninely embarassing. If you're trying to write relatable characters for your tween audience, dom't make them the most irrating pawns reciting the most 'teenagers written by a man in his 80s' dialogue I've seen recently. These actors are either given nothing to do, or are sleepwalking like crazy. They are given a script with barely any consequences and contrived plot points. Dan Aykroyd looked like he was awoken from his trailer before each of his scenes, and Chevy Chase was...there.
This movie was consistently incompent, and while it was funny when itstated with a hilarious hair piece for a younger Dan Aykoryd, but that charm faded quickly. The leads have little to no chemistry, and we are stuck with their irratable, 'teenagers so quirky' dialogue. Is this what 'Juno' sounds like to people who don't like Dialbo Cody?
Unlike 'Caddyshack II', I almost turned this movie off many times. This is so devoid of charm as it attempts to create artifical cheesiness fall flat.
Also, why was there a running gag of a teenager always having to use the restroom?
