This is such a beautiful film and is fairly historically accurate as far as I can tell (my interest in history is purely a hobby at best). Lesbian witches hold a special place in my heart. There is a creeping sense of fear throughout, both that Evelyn and Mary will be discovered, and in Evelyn being forced into a marriage she does not want. The soundtrack contributes to the tone of each scene so beautifully, representing in particular Evelyn's feelings. Bella Ramsey is such a good actor and portrays Evelyn's emotions, especially the horror at Mary's death so viscerally. While I understand why it was neccessary for the film, I do wish that we could have more sapphic media that has a happy ending. It's interesting that this and Fear Street part 3 came out within months of eachother being thematically very similar (excluding the actual supernatural elements or the latter).
