Cut was one of those films that surprised me from the very beginning. It's a movie about a group of students trying to remake a supposedly haunted horror film—essentially a movie within a movie. Sign me up!

The stylistic choice to give this film an '80s feel was ingenious. The characters were extremely likable and relatable, especially for those who aspire to make films and experience the trials and tribulations that come with it.

Towards the end of the second and into the third act, there are some remarkable kills that had a significant impact on me, largely because I connected with almost every character in the movie.

The only aspect that didn’t work for me was that I wished the killer had been portrayed differently. However, if that had happened, I feel the movie would have collapsed in on itself and lost some of its charm. So, calling it a negative isn’t entirely accurate; it’s more of a nitpick.

A great premise with iffy execution.

The cast is hot and fun, but the script fails them and the premise. The themes and messages that the film promise to explore are forgotten and left in the first quarter. It all feels derivative, which is sad because it's clear that the film was trying really hard not to be derivative.

There's also lots of editing issues which aren't hard to spot and they take away from the moment.

Still, it's a decent popcorn flick witg great action scenes, a cook killer costume design and a great (though off screen) kill that In A Violent Nature kinda borrowed. I had some fun.

Any low budget film will be better when it's centred around a film shoot
