i read this book in middle school and it was my first introduction to the idea of being nonbinary. it meant a lot to me to see that in media. i wanted to love this movie so badly but i couldn’t really. the pacing was off and i understand that it was a short movie but the change of nathan and ben’s relationship was disappointing to me.  the movie isn’t very true to the book, but i appreciate it for what it is. i hope this movie means everything to another queer middle schooler.
