so good, one of the craziest films i’ve seen. i feel so spooked im buzzed. definitely best to go into it without. knowing much
the pacing is so sharp. this doesn’t feel like it came in 1997. the plot is so thought out, it feels as if every details fits into this puzzle piece.
something i found interesting is there is no torture actually shown. you just sit with the suffering. i loved the shots. especially the ones of the character’s faces. they’re done so well and even though some scene undeniably drag, you’re still glued to the screen.
the other interesting thing is all the fourth wall breaks. i normally find it a bit cringe, but i liked these ones. especially the rewind scene. i liked how your hope is just taken away instantly. any gratification you get is stolen. even with the final death, it’s the same. you’re expecting some crazy waterboarding torture, but then they just throw her overboard and move on. that’s real sociopathy.
finally, the casting of the antagonists is incredible. particularly the tall lanky guy (Jerry). his facial expressions are so good and he is just so ominous.
