How can a trailer misrepresent the film that it is so wildly? Whomever cut the trailer had either missed the meeting or just couldn't be arsed to watch the film to cut a good representation of the finished product.
Don't get me wrong, Danish director Niels Arden Oplev hasn't made a bad film and re-teaming with his Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace was a wise choice, but the trailer makes it out to be a full on action revenge pic.
There are several moments of action that are done superbly and the revenge theme is prevalent in both lead characters. The love story is actually kept to the very basic to allow the story to take centre stage.
I like Farrell and it's not often I find him to be annoying or crap. OK, his accent in London Boulevard is atrocious but we can forgive him when he has done some great roles in the past, but I digress.
Rapace is almost as interesting as her Dragon Tattoo character of Libeth Salander and here she scars up to add an interesting dimension to Beatrice's revenge motives.
There are good turns from Dominic Cooper, Terence Howard and a bit part from F. Murray Abraham.
It's not going to win any prizes and I think Oplev will always be in the shadow of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, purely because it is a masterpiece but DMD is a well thought out, fun revenge film with some good action sequences and a cracking finale shootout.
