A lovely lil’ indie movie, a small-scale heist with a well-earned distaste for big tech billionaires.
Grant O’Brien is great as the personification of white male unearned confidence, and Ally Beardsley is the quiet heart of the movie.
Marc Evan Jackson is also great, but I wish he had been just a lil’ bit more unchained. This is my largest nit to pick with this movie; perhaps this comes down to budgetary concerns or a desire to keep things more grounded but I would have appreciated things getting just a bit bigger ahead of the finale.
There are a few unearned handwaves and plot beats that I think hold it back a bit, but also a few good surprises and emotional beats that do land. Importantly, there is a very lovely thread of human goodness woven into the script which prevents the film from being bogged down by the occasional darkness.
