as much as I love you hamlet, you've GOT to stop making out with your mother, I cant keep excusing this.
very detailed and medieval world building, while this was a little silly it definitely gets the job done as a decent hamlet adaptation, I really warmed to mel gibson's frantic energy, and glenn close is so mother, the best gertrude I have ever seen by far

Surprised by how much I liked Mel Gibson’s performance. There were some other good performances, too, but lot of them were stifled by the screenplay, especially Helena Bonham Carter’s Ophelia. Turns out when you cut Hamlet in half it’s not as good.
This was a Blockbuster cover I was often drawn to as a kid lol A brooding Mel Gibson holding a sword by the blade must’ve spoken to the tween angst that was soon to blossom.
