the trajectory of this is perfect. doug has the confidence and intelligence that society only affords to white men and allows. and all the same time commenting on how in general confidence and self-assurance can take you and the spiral of this shows how it’s not always what it’s made to be; you can feel and see the hollowness he’s lived his entire life; it’s gritty, gnawing and relatable. he’s definition of fake it til you make it. there’s so many things in this ughhhh im obsessed. it’s funny, truthful, and the tone switch is so good. it reminds me of how the tone switched in donald glover’s Atlanta. imagine this being your magnum opus ahhhhh
