52 A really trashy film with ridiculously bad special effects – even for the 80s. I'd even say I prefer the 2010 reboot, although I'm not a fan of that one either.

A decent telling of the famous Greek mythological story with spectacular Harryhausen work. It does look a bit dated but I can't blame the film because its from 1981. **Creatures Ranked: 1. Medusa - **This was a given. The plot builds up to this tense-ridden battle that is, in my opinion, better than the actual end fight. 2. Stygian Witches - Really eerie and unnervingly creepy 3. Calibos - Great blend of practical effects and stop motion, very tragic character 4. Pegasus - Rather dated effects but still beautiful in concept 5. Bobo - Cute little guy 6. Giant Scorpions - Quite forgettable but strong in scale 7. Kraken - I hate how it fucking looks, [](http://letterboxd.com/film/the-creature-from-the-black-lagoon/)Creature From the Black Lagoon type shit. Meh.
