Spawn might be one of the sickest looking comic book characters of all time. The CGI wasn’t great but it gives dark art house vibes. He struck a deal with the Devil and is constantly harassed and reminded of it by this Demon clown. Guilty pleasure for sure. I really hope they remake this in the future. The VHS also had the Marilyn Manson music video they made for this movie, scared the hell out of me.

In 1997, New Line Cinema released Spawn and many men who saw it went on to release a lot of their own spawn. However, I'd be surprised if any of that went on during the film because it looks disgusting apart from a few times where Spawn was all armoured up and looked pretty cool.

For a superhero movie, I expected more actual scenes of Spawn.
The practical effects are actually pretty good considering it’s from the 90s, but the overall technical execution feels off. The biggest issue is the pacing and the editing. Instead of taking its time to build the story, it completely rushes through everything. On top of that, the effects they use to transition between scenes worked at first, but they became so repetitive.
