the plot of this seemed so batshit insane that i thought i was in for a silly, goofy comedy and nothing else but i actually enjoyed it wayyyy more than i expected?

there were genuinely a lot of very funny moments (including, but by no means limited to the 'you are NOT a silly billy'/'i'm not a silly billy?' scene as well as arthur darvill's sensational dance break) so it was already delivering on that front. aisling bea and billie lourd are both wonderful in their own right but together they make a fantastic duo. i love susan wokoma, arthur darvill, omari douglas and nish kumar so each of them was a welcome addition!!!

genuinely made me quite emotional in places and as an aisling bea lover it was very distressing for me seeing her sob uncontrollably near the end? so thank you for that!!!!! the scene where she started singing and then her dad joined in and everybody was singing? pained me inimaginably. also the end credits actually made ME sob uncontrollably in a way that was neither cute nor cathartic because now i am just SAD AND UPSET AND SAD!!!!!!
