I do think this is a great movie however I was somewhat disappointed by the ending.

To my surprise my mother put this movie on. I’m usually the one making her watch historical films about Ireland.

I prefer the only other film I’ve seen by Alan Parker, “Mississippi Burning.” Because it had a bit more structure and the ending was compelling. 

Definitely worth the watch but I don’t know if it has rewatch potential.

My favorite type of film — where the whole plot is just the character's life, where their entire journey becomes the story, there's no clear goal, it's blurred, and you only remember it at the very end when the character finally reaches it. There's no direct drama here, it builds with every minute of watching, a person gets used to the worst, a cold story with a warm ending.

This was another film for my Irish film class and it was pretty interesting. Talks a lot about poverty and bifocality within Irish culture. WARNING: it is not the most chipper movie. I went into it blind and was quite sad off the get go.
