The Belle Star Story isn't your ordinary spaghetti western. For one it focuses on the female perspective. The other thing Is that it isn't the most action focused western but more the battles of 2 people who just need to say they really really like each other.
The Belle star Story follows Belle. She is an outlaw gambling and robbing peacefully until she meets Blackie. Once they meet a will they won't they romance starts as the two start to one up each other.
So the story definitely doesn't follow the traditional spaghetti western structure. If you want action, duels and big bads whether they are lawmen or other outlaws. If you go in expecting that you'll be disappointed. There is a heist at the end of the movie and it's fine. I liked it but it's not the best one you'll see.
What works though are the characters. Belle,Blackie and Jessica are intresting protagonists to follow. Belle and Blackie's relationship is sweet and they chemistry. Their little moments make it work just because you see how they are with each other. Jessica was someone I wish the movie focused more on. She was really intriguing and her attitude towards life is communicated well. The rest of the characters are fine. Nothing special but entertaining enough. The three leads carry this movie though.
As for the plot. I found it refreshing. I love a good spaghetti western but I also find a fresh perspective in genres so intresting. This movie does that. What it trades in with the normal duels etc you get good character dynamics. Also it does a thing I don't really like very well. That is the extended flashback in the middle of the movie. It tells how Belle became Belle in an very good way that makes you understand her character more. So definitely not a typical spaghetti western but it's entertaining and refreshing.
The movie looks good. I don't see many westerns with green so that was nice. It's shot well too.
