Alan Zwick is so good in this. What an actor, and what a shame that this - an early 70s flick about two men on the run for murder, one of whom resorts to drag to keep up appearances - is his only film appearance. He had talent! He’s the best actor in the whole film. He’s menacing, intimidating, and pulls off being both Paul the fugitive and Aunt Martha the murderer so well. This is a flick with a lot of murder, drugs, and sex. If you don’t like these things you might wanna skip this, but I think it’s a particularly good horror-drama shot entirely in Florida. It’s as if you’re watching some pastiche of 70s television but the leads keep killing people. Very fortunate to have gotten my hands on the out-of-print Vinegar Syndrome-AGFA release, which looks very good all things considered. Wish they dived a bit more into what Paul and Stanley’s relationship was like, though; I’m very much fascinated with the former’s descent into madness over his partner in crime, but I really wonder if he actually disliked being in the drag for him. A great independent movie nonetheless, and nothing but respect to the people who made it - many of whom have no other film credits. I’d show this one to others.
