This is an interesting movie, it's truly punk but not in the way you'd think. Rather than being an aggressive stick-it-to-the-man story, Robinson's Garden is a calm, slow, and patient movie, about going out and finding pieces of yourself. It's really contemplative, and honestly an amazing mood piece. It's true punk, in a way. Someone leaving the normal life, and just living in their own little world, making a place for other outcasts in japan. It's honestly got such great bits, mixed in with alright bits.
Again, the movie is incredibly slow, but I think that's how it's supposed to be. Take life slowly, one plant at a time. A lot of the movie is more about finding your own path, rather then fighting the big mega corporation. (again a comparison between the types of punk.) It doesn't care what you think, it's just gonna keep doing it's own thing. It understands how being a punk is; not just getting cool clothes, hairstyles, listening to rowdy music, and fighting your local CEO (even though a lot of it is that, and yes it's sick as fuck,) it's also growing a massive garden, painting weird murals, shooting toys with a bb semi-automatic Uzi, and laying in the sun while everyone else bickers and fights around you. It's really great at times, and some of the shots are so so so beautiful. Be a punk!
