Koji Shiraishi really is great at creating haunting & tragic stories. this film honestly by far exceeded any expectations i had. with its beautiful, isolating B&W cinematography, themes of belonging & connection and the horror of being alive as your body rots.
genuinely just such a morbidly beautiful yet depressing film, with its sombre piano score and a story of someone just seeking connection and help, only to loose it from all they loved. Shiraishi really is an underrated director, and this film is absolutely underrated.
really hope to see an HD restoration of this film as it for sure deserves one. the Hideshi Hino Theatre of Horror series is absolutely excellent so far, but this one will be hard to beat! only 44 mins long and yet packs a beautiful punch. also, the ending is absolutely perfect. check it out!
