Helter Skelter was a wild ride, to say the least. I haven't read the manga, so I can't comment on whether it's faithful to the source material, but I really liked the plot and cinematography. I will say, though, that I felt the film dragged quite a bit; a lot of the more explicit scenes weren't really necessary, in my opinion, and it took a while after the film started for the first problems to arise for Liliko. I also wasn't a fan of any of the characters, though I could sympathise with some of their plights, especially that of Liliko. The acting was brilliant all-round, with the standout performances for me coming from Erika Sawajiri and Shinobu Terajima, and the outfits and sets were gorgeous. On the whole, I do think the film could've leaned more into body horror (The Substance comes to mind as an example), but I still liked Helter Skelter, and I would revisit it in the future.
