*Halloween 2025: Film XXXIX*
Georges Méliès is one of my favourite directors, mainly thanks to immensely impressive set design and his slapstick humour whoch adds a certain charm to his pictures which other directors just couldn't match at the time.
Most of his films follow the same simple format and this one does but it is just as good. The clever use of trap doors and explosive gusts of smoke is really impressive and charming. I love how Méliès always plays the lead character, in this the devil, and you know what, fair enough.
Méliès is legendary and always makes fun short horror films. I will never get tired of it.
