Mel Gibson is a troubled and controversial human being and a just as controversial and widely discussed director, so obviously I expected a certain amount from this.
That this is his first feature is something that’s very clear while watching. It’s a bit clumsy but heart driven, wether or not that heart is entirely in the right place is up to debate, but I thought that the bond at the center of the film was quite touching and combined with Mel Gibsons performance makes it worthwhile.
