Really taken aback by the sheer passion for filmmaking on display by Wise and his collaborators. Every other shots a split diopter, creating these beautiful deep space compositions, and the camerawork, its movement, simply mesmerizing, oh and can’t forget the split screen edits, movie magic! Can’t the forget about the production design, right up there with 2001 in terms of that peak mid century Cold War optimistic futurism, love it when a movie dedicates 30 straight minutes to showcasing its glorious sets and props, and the buttons and switches, can’t forget about those, some of the best buttons and switches you’ve ever seen in this one, reminds me why I love sci-fi, genre fare, and movies in general!
