I feel like this is the Madagascar movie everyone remembers instead of the original one and yeah I will admit that this is the best one. It’s definitely the funniest mostly because they realized everyone’s favorite characters were the penguins and the lemurs so this movie gave them bigger roles. The story is still pretty much as basic as it can get but it’s a kids movie so I can’t really fault it for that. This one also definitely had more adult jokes that would blow over kids heads than the OG which makes it a great film for the whole family to enjoy. I like it so I’ll probably watch it again.

I don't care what anyone says, Madagascar 2 is peak cinema just for the scene I took the above quote from. But, in general, it's a great sequel, with the excellent cast from the first film reprising their roles alongside some awesome newcomers. The script is chock-full of witty zingers, the penguins get up to even more shenanigans, and Hans Zimmer and will.i.am gave us some of the greatest music to ever be made for an animated film; I unironically listen to 'The Travelling Song' and 'Big and Chunky' all the time. I love you Madagascar 2 🫶💞.
