Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out
2023 Sundance Film Festival — Screening No. 1

Feels like a modern Disney Channel Original Movie, and I do mostly mean that in a good way. Some of the sweet coming-of-age stuff really worked for me, but the ending and the romance elements felt way off.

It took some time in the first 10 minutes or so to find its footing, but once it did it started to win me over in that middle hour as the two leads came together with a couple of charming performances. But then that final 10 minutes went downhill pretty fast.

An interesting way to start the festival, for sure.

This film is horribly cringey to a point of hurting my ears, but everything besides the dialogue is pretty good. 6.1/10
