Borrows experimental doc tricks from Theo Anthony, Asif Kapadia, Chris Marker and more to jazz up one of the most potentially boring topics for most of us. Through avant-garde editing tricks, narration, and trippy footage that would all be red flags in a student film, we become just as fascinated by these formations and patterns as the various geo-professionals describing these to us. Excited to see what Deborah Stratman will do next; a great eye that can also trim the fat.

This reminded me of a science-fiction creation tale of Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams. It's a compelling mixture of science history and science future. There would be drawings taken from academic literature and anyone, like myself, who has no idea what this stuff means can't decipher if it's some esoteric symbol or scientific diagram. The film also succeeded in making me feel very small as I contemplate the fathoms of the universe and the depth of knowledge I have none of.
