It's October 3rd, so of course I had to watch Mean Girls! It's such a great teen comedy that's stayed very relevant for a really long time. The cast all do a excellent job, but I especially adore the Plastics and Damian 🫶. Always a nice film to come back to every so often, and I'm so glad a sequel was never made (sarcasm I know it exists and I hate it).

I’ve been reflecting recently on many of the most popular films on Letterboxd that I have yet to watch, so I’m starting a new series, trying to watch every film with 1M+ viewers I have yet to see, starting with Tina Fey’s Mean Girls. This is my first time viewing this film, but it already felt like I had seen it. So many lines I’ve quoted without even knowing the context, that’s how iconic this film is.

I had such a blast with this film. It’s hilarious, the casting is iconic, with incredible performances from Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and the debut of Amanda Seyfried. A film about the stupidity that is social classes in high school. It seems like a dumb idea created just for movies, but I knew the “plastics” of my high school, and I think they did think they had a higher authority than the rest. Maybe not as ridiculous to this degree, but this is a film that is relatable, and calls out these type of people.

Mean Girls is such a fun movie that is catered for high school girls, but it doesn’t stop me from loving this film all the more.
