It felt way too ambitious as a debut as structurally it was a bit messy and it seemed like he didn’t know what to cut and what to keep so it feels dragged out in parts but still a really good film, the cinematography was amazing so not surprised he also went on to collab with Wong Kar-Wai. Also gets pretty soapy towards the end too which is a bit annoying but the literal ending with the brother was great.
