i’m kind of torn on this one because as a stand alone film the whole revenge plot and interaction on that side is really cool but it’s also what makes harry feel out of place in this one. it doesn’t feel like a dirty harry follow up but just more about murder and revenge in a small town with people covering up for each other.
i know they had to keep the partner dying but going but it was a bit of an odd way to do it like they didn’t even kill harry when they got themselves a really good chance. then those flashbacks scenes are pretty brutal and you can’t help but feel like she is completely justified.
although this is more of callahan being a spectator to this just like the audience and getting out of his first hand anger and duty to stop the ‘criminals’ we finally see some character growth by assessing the greater evil that had occurred.
strange one in the context of the series but also a solid stand alone film. i feel like they could definitely have gotten harry more involved rather than just stumbling from place to place with a potential lover, but despite that he’s still wreaking havoc everyone he goes
