Essentially this film is a plot-hole/plot-less jukebox musical. It takes the music, characters, and basic style of Hair then contorts it into something completely different, stripping Hair of it's meaning.
While the stage play remains relatively plotless the music is still a plot device, as is every musical. The music tells the story. In this adaptation, however, it basically changes everything but still uses the same music; not only does the plot of this film make no sense but it also makes the music not fit whatsoever.
There is a lot of discourse online recently about how overdone Hair is, specifically on colleges. But I would much rather see my local community college do Hair before I ever think of watching this insulting film again.
