Let me demonstrate the plot of Gettysburg is a handful of words: lengthy speech, lengthy fight scene, lengthy speech, lengthy fight scene, lengthy speech, etc, etc.
I knew the history of Gettysburg before my viewing, but it is nice to see a more in depth look at the people who fought for that “beautiful” land.
The obvious complaint I have is how long this film is for being one war that only lasts for three days. On the other hand there is something that is bringing this film even farther down for me, and that is how over dramatic some scenes are (especially the big speeches). At times it just feels so unrealistic and usual Hollywood. There are also times when because the film is PG, it doesn’t feel real enough. It is a war movie, and there’s hardly any blood, swearing, or real phycological matters on the screen. Now I’m not saying that a PG-13 or a R rated film makes it better, but it definitely adds to a war film. Certainly a questionable decision.

The only hype part when when he said “Killer Angel” and made me jump out of the couch and scream “He said the thing!!!” and then got immediately depressed after seeing that there was another 3 hours left.
