In one of her interviews while promoting Four Daughters, Kaouther Ben Hania mentioned that she first discovered Olfa’s story in 2016 Olfa was trying to use Tunisian media to either find someone to condemn her daughters’ situation or to seek help in rescuing them Ben Hania said she immediately felt this was “bigger than life” and that’s when it struck me this story is truly bigger than life itself.

It’s impressive, sad and shocking to realize that this is the actual life of real people ,that struggle is all around us, yet we are too distracted to notice it. When you understand that this is the reality of teenage girls (some of whom went through this entire scenario even younger than eight years old), you realize just how enormous this story is.
